Menders, Torrey & Spencer has worked with one of the largest owners of residential and commercial property in Boston’s North End for over ten years. This owner
is known for seeking meticulous standards of design and craftsmanship, with a focus on residential and commercial reuse of late 19th and early 20th century multi-story buildings.
Occupying a commanding position looking down Parmenter Street, 102 Salem Street (shown below) was a serviceable but pedestrian four-story warehouse building. It has been transformed
into high-end apartments with ground floor commercial space. The façade treatment in cast stone emulates the classical style of the Beaux Arts with custom-made wood windows.
Awarded the "2004 Design Excellence Award" from the Cast Stone Institute, the project is nationally recognized.
