Private Residence

This year round home overlooks both the tidal flats of Cape Cod Bay and an inland fresh water pond.

To fully benefit from its wonderful water views, the house features multiple window openings to maximize natural light and cross ventilation; in fact, most rooms benefit from two or three exterior vistas.

Composed of one-and two-storied wings with a variety of gables and bay windows, the building wings form on one side a welcoming entry courtyard and on the oceanside, a deck sheltered from the wind and late afternoon sun.

Roofed and sided with Cape Cod’s traditional white cedar shingles and landscaped with local plant specimens, this home evokes the relaxed atmosphere of Cape Cod with its informal and friendly imagery.

The variegated roofline results in a variety of interior ceiling heights. A single story wing shown below with ocean and pond views, contains the kitchen, dining room and an informal seating zone. A beaded board wood ceiling, off-white painted wood trim, antique reused southern yellow pine floor and pastel colored walls create a warm background for the owner’s furnishings. Wood blinds which offer daylight control and visual privacy are concealed into a wall pocket when fully raised. The upper level consists of the master bedroom suite facing Cape Cod Bay and a south facing guest suite.
