This transformation of an early 2oth century seasonal cottage into a year-round home emphasizes views to the sea and adjacent wooded hillside. Many distinctive details about the exterior and interior express the owner’s love of fine craftsmanship and natural materials. Design challenges included preserving an eighty-foot tall pine tree during construction, capturing underutilized basement space for light-filled living, and coping with quantities of ledge that limited expansion of the footprint of the building.
