Menders, Torrey & Spencer, in collaboration with RDK Engineers and LeMessurier Consultants, is progressing through varied phases of execution of a diverse portfolio of interior and exterior improvements at the Whitehead Institute headquarters. Master planning and feasibility studies for building expansion are also underway as components of this improvement initiative, which was inspired by the Institute’s 25th anniversary and the celebration of its pioneering work in cancer research.
These projects include ‘wet’ laboratory renovations and expansion at multiple sites within the building; faculty and staff office renovations; relocation and consolidation of staff facilities from 5 Cambridge Center to the Institute headquarters; library consolidation and renovations; classroom renovations; and numerous infrastructure modernization tasks. Each project has benefited from construction management expertise and all construction operations are taking place within the fully occupied headquarters facility. MTS assists with budget planning and cost control and construction phase sequencing to enable swing space strategies and project sequencing; this permits the research and educational missions of the Institute to proceed with a minimum of interruption and inconvenience.
